BioCastiel, angel of the Lord.
Age: Millennia. Jimmy, his host, 34.
Personality:
Castiel has a strong moral compass. (Though is it the moral compass of an angel, not a human, and it is not used to question or doubt God’s orders, only those that come from other sources).
Of all the angels we see in Supernatural Castiel is the most other-worldly. This is presumably because he has spend so little time on Earth.
He likes and respects humans or anything created by God. He is rather earnest, serious and literal. His speech is a little stilted as he is speaking through a human body and, since his exposure to humans has been limited, he doesn’t get most colloquialisms or popular culture references. He is a lot less effusive that the other angels we see in the show though he can, with little facial movement, achieve a fair variety of expressions. He does have a sense of humour, too. It’s subtle and it’s dry but it’s there.
He can experience some emotions but most are limited and many emotions seem to boggle him. He does not feel envy, lust, avarice or love in the way humans do but he has shown fear, anger, doubt, a little mirth and some level of fondness for God’s creations (and his human charges). He is also shown to be very brave though it takes him time to overcome his doubts.
Jimmy was a devout man who invited Castiel to use his body though after being Castiel’s host for a year was ready to walk away from the whole thing. He accepted Castiel back to spare his daughter. Now he has to accept his fate. He is a kind and brave man but he’s overwhelmed by his experiences so his behaviour can be a little erratic nowadays.
History: Castiel is an angel of the Lord. He has been to Earth before but not for 2000 years. He has been sent down again to assist Dean and Sam Winchester, he thinks to stop the apocalypse, but they have all been tricked by his angelic superiors into bringing it on.
When he first appears he is officious and efficient, all business. As he goes along doubt begins to creep in along with other traits. Being around Dean causes him to relax just a little and he is more able to connect emotionally though he is still much more stilted than a human.
After a short time with the Winchesters Castiel is paired with another angel, Uriel. It turns out Uriel has been killing other angels and when this comes out Castiel’s doubts increase. He is also called upon to capture a fallen angel whom he, at first, despises but after his partner betrays God he is desperate for guidance and turns to her for it as he knows she is independent but she only tells him he has to make up his own mind. It is around this time his allegiance begins to waver as he struggled with what to do next.
He has done what would be considered terrible things on orders from Heaven because he believed in God’s justice, however, when he finds out orders have been coming from those out for their own interests, and after (and possibly partly because) he is challenged by Dean, he finally rebels against Heaven and tries to follow his original mission to help stop the apocalypse and keep Lucifer trapped in Hell.
Last seen he is preparing to fight a garrison of archangels solo while, elsewhere, it becomes clear his mission has failed.
Castiel's powers: He can fly, has telekinesis, can spot a demon hidden in a host, can send said demon back to Hell or kill it, he can kill another angel, he can be damaged by a demon and, if his self-healing powers are suspended, his host can be wounded or even killed but Castiel can only be killed by another angel. He can heal others. He can enter peoples' dreams to speak to them. He can move in and out of a locked room. He can locate certain people with his powers.
So, his powers will, of course, be curbed. (Not sure where the best place to discuss this is^^).
